PS. It is now too late to give us your thoughts about 2011 - Why not just come and play in 2012!

Welcome.

Thanks to the many players from this year's event who participated in the Auction Pairs 2011 survey. We have some areas to work on to ensure an even greater event for everybody. However we definitely got lots of things just right, and look forward to bringing many more opportunities for competitive bridge.

Here below is a summary of responses.

We asked respondents to rate the people involved in the event - the staff, event directing and fellow competitors. 91% told us we got the people element of the Auction pairs just right, 60% even felt it was excellent.

We also asked respondents to rate the bridge elements of the Auction Pairs. Here's how they rated the bridge.

95% agreed that we did OK or better with this event. Only 10% rated the bridge as excellent - but the more than half felt t it was just right.

In specific bridge areas, satisfaction with the format rated highest, followed closely by timings and the number of boards. The playing environment, as better than OK for over 50% of respondents, but it is in this area we will focus attention in 2012 to improve the player experience for all. Specific environmental elements mentioned by respondents included security and lighting.

Here are the responses from players when asked about the one best thing for them about the event.

- winning against World champions - warm hospitality of staff, quality of the field - a strong and very well run tournament, playing good bridge against top class players - the organisation of the delivery of the boards to be played -smooth running without any problems between the players - the nice atmosphere.

The auction and prizes - organisation and scoring by Brenning and his team - very good standard event played in a very good spirit and atmosphere - courteous and exceptionally strong opposition - meeting good players - the very rapid production and distribution of the results as we went along - good TDs - barometer scoring

Respondents gave their thoughts about the organisation as well.

Finally we asked respondents to give us an indication of their bridge intentions regarding bridge events that we plan to run in the future. This is a graphical summary of the responses.

From the over whelming response to future Auction events our whole team is coming together again in September 2011 to bring about the TGRs Auction Teams - a unique event which promises to be a tremendous experience that we hope will the start of ever more fabulous bridge to come!

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Auction Pairs and a special thank you to everyone who told us what they thought in this our first survey.

All the very best from

Marilyn and the TGRs team
